Tim Klett is a 35-year veteran of the fire service, serving the last 30 years with the FDNY. Before his appointment to the FDNY in 1990, he served as firefighter with the City of New Britain Fire Department (CT).
Tim was also a volunteer firefighter in the Newington Fire Department (CT) and is currently a volunteer firefighter with the Montgomery Fire Department (NY).
After spending many years on Engine 69, one of FDNY’s busiest engine companies, he is now a Lieutenant on Engine 88 in the Bronx. He is currently serving on a team to re-write the FDNY’s entire Engine Tactics Bulletin. Tim is also a member of FDNY’s Engine tactical training program.
Tim is the lead HOT instructor for engine company operations during the Fire Department Training Network’s National Fireground Training Academy. Tim has also served as a lead HOT instructor for FDIC, FDIC West and NYSAFC’s Hoarders HOT program and lecture series. He has taught engine company operations at numerous fire departments and fire industry events and training conferences including:

Tim has also written articles for Fire Engineering, FDTN training , Firehouse.com and Size-Up magazine for many years. He also authored “Stretching and Operating the First Line” for the Fire Department Training Network.
